These Illustrations are made for a student project of the University of Innsbruck, Austria.
Together with their professor and with the support of artists, the students develop a card game, which is not about pokemon or other creatures or monsters, what is usually the subject of a card game. This one (preliminary called "Seeker") breaks this stereotype, and is about ...science! particularly, about physics. The trading card game set in a post-apocalyptic world, where knowledge is power and humans seek long forgotten knowledge to overcome the perils of their time.
Personally I really hope for this project to be a success, to help inspire kids for meaningful, and for real, for existing things. I can name this project as one of the most useful things I have done so far!

The space card deck shows some of the weirdest, as well as some of the most captivating objects, phenomena and concepts beyond earth. A part of them we know quite well, but other illustrations still needed alot of imagination to be able to be completed.
this deck of cards represents the Quantum world, the world of the very small.
In this realm, there are things happening, which are so strange, that when scaled up into the real world, it would look like magic to us!

01 Quasar
Hot plasma rotates around a massive back whole. A strong magnetic field can
break the plasma into two streams that follow the lines of the magnetic field and are
propelled into space in two jets.
02 cosmic nebula
The birthplace of stars; a gigantic cloud of dust and ionized gas
03 Comet
Lumps of rock and ice, formed in the outskirts of our solar system, that can be pulled by gravitational forces into an elliptical orbit around the sun.
04 black hole
The mass of a blackhole is extremely concentrated, resulting in a gravitational force that is strong enough to trap light.
In fact, no one still knows for sure, how it is to be inside the so-called event horizon of a black hole.
05 supernova
Boom! A star explodes.
In this event of seemingly pure destruction, essential heavy elements which we all need, are born and spread into the cosmos
06 curvature of spacetime
a massive object bends spacetime. Near it, time is running apparently slower, relatively seen by an outside observer
07 accretion disc
Matter is accumulated in a disk to be slowly devoured by a massive object in the center
08 speeding expansion
In the beginning of our universe, space rapidly expanded in only a few seconds and it kept growing during ist lifetime of 13.7 billion years. Against expectations, the expansion did not slow down, but sped up again, and does it till present day
09 red giant
a gigantic star, with a mass compareable to our sun, but a size dozens of times larger. This type of stars is at the end of it's life cycle and has enough mass to collapse into a black
hole.
Next to it is a brown dwarf, a "failed star" an object larger then a planet, but too small to start nuclear fusion and become a star.
10 sling shot
a so-called "swing-by" maneuver a spacecraft can perform, using the motional energy of a planet to gain a boost in speed and be slung out into the void
